    I like the idea of magnetic fans, assuming the performance is the same. Every Gpu failure I've ever had was fan related except for one. They're really difficult to replace sometimes. I don't think I've been successful once; I had to rig something up usually.

    Sapphire started doing replaceable fans with the 400 series, so maybe it's at least partly a patent issue? Though they were (and probably still are?) held in with (a?) screw(s?) (each?). The magnetic power/ground/tach/PWM ring... Presumably that just means it doesn't need to be lined up? It is rather cool :b I think with EVGA cards it was possible to see the speed of each fan, and as there are 4 contacts on these fans it would be possible to see the speeds if it's implemented in software, whether that be XFX's own, MSI Afterburner or AMD Adrenaline... But are they?

    I have their RX 480 with swappable fans. Still in use today. I love the swappable fans and think it should be standardized for gpus.. and even maybe chassis fans. Being able to pull them from their housing would make case cleaning so much faster and convenient.

    I've had numerous XFX cards over the years, dating back to the ATI days. I've never regretted purchasing any of them unlike some lesser brands. These days it's either XFX or Sapphire AMD cards for me (unless EVGA decides to start releasing AMD cards).

    I'm a little more cool than last week since my DeepCool air cooler is now banned and I feel like an outlaw. Turns out the feds don't take kindly to selling certain items to the Russian ministry of war ahem I mean defense. Anyway it's interesting that they are willing to give up possibly all of the western world's markets to sell ultra low margin nonsense to the Russians. As for the QualComm stuff, I'm sort of impressed outside of the gaming. I mean it's the worst it'll ever be and looks quite good. But I'm curious how they would look if wired up to a modest DDR5 memory config and not the insanely fast embedded memory they're using. I wonder how difficult it'll be for them to do graphics drivers, given what we've seen Intel go though the last two years. But seeing them hang with Intel and AMD even when using non native arm applications is pretty cool.

  • @MaxPower-11
    @MaxPower-11 8 дней назад

    With respect to the Snapdragon X… virtually no games are compiled for ARM natively yet and games are resource-intensive applications. As such, it is not really surprising that they are not performing well.

    • @pcper

      I don't think the performance is bad given the lack of native support, but the pre-launch claims were very optimistic.

    16:12 SFF-Ready is not a standard. It's a marketing term Nvidia has made up like GPP was, "My case says its Nvidia SFF-ready... So I guess I have to buy an Nvidia card to comply". *It's larger than a reference rtx2080TI!* My titan V is only 267mm, this SFF standard isn't SFF or a standard. I hope tomorrow AMD and Intel release a "ATX ready" program where a card has to be under 400x175x75. Tech press are usually better at seeing through BS like this, but I guess with enough shit at the wall some will slip through the cracks.

    Actually did picked up one of them Razer Huntsman from Canada Computers on Monday. Feels like a steal. Smooth travel and not annoyingly clicky but incredibly loud when accustomed to OG mushy Microsoft keyboards. Main keyboard cable is USB-C (C to A adapter included) but USB passthrough cable is USB-A; that was kinda weird. Rapid fire feature is just as silly and superfluous as the turbo buttons were back on the NES Advantage 30 years ago, but this thing has RGB lighting, so I can finally present myself as a true gamer now. lvl up
